When you run a business and have a baby or kids, no two days look exactly the same, but having a rhythm that keeps you grounded makes all the difference. This is a behind-the-scenes look at how I structure my days to stay productive, creative, and sane while balancing client work, parenthood, and time for myself.
This isn’t about hustle. It’s about intention. My routine is built around the kind of life I want to live, not just the work I want to get done.
My Morning
My mornings are sacred. Before my baby wakes up, I start digging through emails or even getting on my phone, I make space for myself. I usually start with a quick workout or a walk, followed by a short meditation to reset my mind. If I’m lucky and the baby is still sleeping, I’ll sip my coffee in peace, maybe read a few pages of whatever book I’m working through (typically fantasy).
Once the house starts waking up, I shift into mom mode. Getting my baby fed, changed, and settled is the real start of my day. After that, I head into my workspace and review my priorities. I check my calendar to see what’s coming up, and open HoneyBook to catch any new client messages or pending tasks. If I have time, I also try to read through trending topics in the marketing and design world to see what’s new and fresh and kickstart my creative juices for the day.
I try to keep this part of the morning calm and focused so I can transition into work with a clear head.
My Midday
This is when I dive into deep work. I usually block a few hours in the late morning or early afternoon to work on client designs, brand strategy, or writing. I avoid email or admin tasks during this time so I can stay in flow and make real progress.
I always step away for a walk during the day, even if it’s just for fifteen minutes. Living in Florida makes it easy to get outside year-round, and that little movement break clears my head and gives me an energy reset I didn’t know I needed.
Lunch is screen-free and simple, thanks to one of my favorite Sunday rituals: meal prepping for the week. Prepping ahead saves me time, reduces the mental load, and makes it much easier to stay on track with my work and family schedule. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference.
After lunch, I take care of smaller tasks like sending mood boards, updating timelines, or giving feedback.
My Afternoon
Afternoons are lighter and more flexible. I check email, reply to client messages, and handle admin tasks like scheduling content or updating project dashboards in HoneyBook. If I have discovery calls or client check-ins, I try to keep them in this window so my mornings stay protected for deep focus.
I wrap the day by planning the next. I’ll block off time for the next day’s priorities and jot down anything lingering on my mind so I can let it go for the evening.
My Evenings
After dinner and family time, I carve out space for myself again. This might look like another walk, a little meditation, or another workout. I’ll usually read a chapter of something light or watch an episode of my current reality TV obsession once the baby is asleep, something that requires absolutely zero brainpower and helps me switch off.
That downtime is just as important as anything I get done during the day. It keeps me grounded, creative, and present in both life and business.
Why It Works for Me
Having a structure helps me move through the day with purpose, but flexibility keeps everything sustainable. I don’t follow a strict schedule. I follow a rhythm that fits my business, my energy, and my role as a parent.
This routine gives me time to create, space to connect with my clients, and moments to show up fully for myself and my family without burning out in the process.
